Dan leads a team of passionate professionals on some of the most technical structural engineering projects in the company. He focuses on his clients’ best interests: he seeks to provide a balance between competing priorities, offering economical and constructible solutions while adhering to a strict design schedule. To him this balancing act is essential to successful project delivery.
Dan is an enthusiastic supporter of Performance-Based Engineering (PBE) as a means to provide a more resilient community through thoughtful design. As a member of the ASCE41 committee, Dan contributes to the development of PBE design standards for the benefit of the engineering community at large. He applies his technical know-how to rehabilitate and reinvigorate existing buildings, with an emphasis on tall building safety strategy.
Dan was raised in the Netherlands and has volunteered building schools for Sherpa refugees in Nepal. Dan and his wife have two young girls. They enjoy all things outdoors in their spare time.
